Overview:

Small group and private lessons. 10-week sessions culminate in free recital at session end. Shorter summer sessions will be more relaxed, focusing on individual technique and fun music theory games as related to the guitar. Must have own guitar to bring to lessons. Recommended ages 8 and up

YP's recommendation on what age to begin guitar:

For the average child, they are more likely to be successful in our group classes beginning at 7 or 8 yrs. That said, it very much depends on the child's personality and their interest level (not the parents'--sorry guys) whether they could begin sooner. It's much easier to tailor lessons to a younger child's needs in private lesson format. Please feel free to reach out and discuss your child's unique situation.

We also recommend younger children begin with Ms. Megan in Music & Movement, anyway, where they explore music on many instruments and begin learning music theory there before the greater challenge of tackling technique on a specific instrument.

BRAND NEW STUDENTS TO GUITAR are strongly encouraged to enroll in 4 private lessons first before joining the class so the instructor can orient them to initial guitar, music, and curriculum basics.

Fall 2026 Session

Classes on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm beginning Sep 16, final class November 16 ending in joint recital on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 pm with Voices of Hope Vocal and Ivory Beaters piano classes.

Cost:

$100 for 10-week session plus evening recital.​

$230 for private 1/2-hour lessons for 9 weeks plus evening recital.

1/2 price for adding siblings
